Playreaders present This Day and Age by Nagle Jackson, the surprise hit of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 1995. This sophisticated comedy of modern manners deals with the greatest nightmare for “empty-nesters”—the chickens coming home to roost!
Critics loved the play. Comments included phrases such as “talk-show topical, but considerably more sardonic and much funnier,” “crackles with wit” and “a bright, breezy contemporary comedy which takes aim at nineties angst.” Even comedy can sting delightfully and “frothy, sweet and tart,” like lemon meringue pie, best describes Jackson’s crowd-pleaser of a play.
Director Doris Pyle has assembled an outstanding cast including such popular actors as
Lola Smith, Jill Gottlieb, Michael Gottlieb, John Wharton, Crystal Calderoni and new reader Chuck Calhoun. Dic Simandl will handle lights and sound.
The performance is offered two nights in a row. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm or as soon as the house is full.
