James Kirkwood, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of A Chorus Line and P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, wrote a comedy that has delighted audiences for almost 20 years. Four of San Miguel’s social and theatrical luminaries will bring their style and glamour to Kirkwood’s outrageous Legends! Barbara Porter makes her San Miguel theatrical debut as the flashy former movie star Sylvia Green. Billie Bremer plays the diva who is famous for sweetness but reveals her “iron butterfly” nature in a go-for-broke battle with her screen rival, Sylvia. Elena Shoemaker is the feisty maid who can take kidding and dish the dirt as well. Michael Gottlieb is the ambitious producer who is willing to use whatever wiles he has to get ahead. These four actors, under the direction of Stan Gray, bring acerbic hilarity to the play, which ran for more than a year with Carol Channing and Mary Martin. Audiences loved the battle of the divas and San Miguel theater lovers looking for an evening of hilarious fun will certainly do the same. Eli Nadel handles the lights and sound for the production.
