On the shores of a deserted beach, a married couple, basking in their golden years, discuss how they should spend the rest of their lives. The wife, Nancy, hopes they'll travel and explore the world. Her husband, Charlie, is worn out from working and supporting his family and would prefer to idle away his old age relaxing, doing nothing.

Suddenly, two giant lizards crawl up from the sea bound for a new life out of the water.

Edward Albee’s 1975 Pulitzer Prize-winning play blends comedy, drama and a touch of the fanciful.

Seascape, considered among the most innovative and entertaining of Albee’s plays, reflects his career-long interest in how people communicate and what happens when they do. The theme resonates for those of us who are still trying to figure out what to do when we grow up and how to fit into the world on our own terms.

The talented cast includes Britt Zaist and Henry Vermillion as Nancy and Charlie; Sharon Frantz and Cris Cooley as the sea lizards, Sarah and Leslie. Irving Kohn manages lights and sound, and Paula Lopuch directs.

Doors open at 7pm and the play begins at 7:30 or when the house fills. Come and be touched by this amusing and insightful look at life on this earth—both above and below the ocean—and the major hurdles most couples face as they make their journey through it.

Methods shared by Monroe and Brando

Acting Workshop
Wed & Fri, Apr 23–May 30, 11am–2pm
Teatro Santa Ana

Insurgentes 25

“The Pleasure of Acting” is a six-week workshop meeting twice a week and open to everyone who wants the experience of acting while feeling safe from fear and frustration. Acting is a rich experience and anyone searching for self-expansion should try it. Several people who attended 2007 workshops reported enhanced life skills.

You will learn to improvise scenes, step by step, under the method shared by Monroe, Brando and Newman. Classes begin with gentle coaching to prepare body and mind for living fictional situations as though they were true. Everyone plays scenes on stage as a part of every class. Classes are bilingual, English and Spanish as needed. Those who join the class will have lots of fun and find there is much more about themselves than they knew.

I have coached professional and amateur actors for 22 years in Chile and Mexico with techniques based on the Actors Studio Method enriched by the Physical Action Method created by Raúl Serrano (Buenos Aires). For further information and registration, email munoz_anamaria@yahoo.ca
