I am not a heavy drinker. I can sometimes go for hours without touching a drop.
I have always paid income tax. I object only when it reaches a stage when I am threatened with having nothing left for my old age - which is due to start next Tuesday or Wednesday.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
It’s discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit.
Noel Coward, whose humour and sensibility coincides directly with The Literary Cabaret, provides the perfect vehicle for that tongue-in-cheek approach, so often associated with their performance. Expect unknown verses to songs he sings, stuff that’s never been performed before, and pieces that were banned by censors at the time they were written. Altogether, expect a show that is both light and enlightening, off-the-wall, ingenious, and thoroughly entertaining!

Theater benefit
Gil Gutiérrez and GravityWorks
Tues, Apr 3, 7pm
Teatro Santa Ana
Biblioteca Pública
Reloj 50A
300 pesos
Famed musician Gil Gutiérrez and the awe-inspiring acrobats of GravityWorks perform in a benefit for the bilingual street theater company Tal x Cual, (pronounced “Tal por Cual”) which was founded in Mexico City. Discarding conventional theatrical artifice, Tal x Cual seeks to present a theater of personal reflection, of internal exploration, and to create a vital creative experience in which the common measures of success or failure are absent, as is the typical cultural mindset. This is a theater company which transforms any place at all into a stage, and any moment into drama. Tal x Cual is now based in San Miguel, and expects to begin presenting performances in its special, transportable “light-box” soon. GravityWorks is a small troupe of experienced, professional and accomplished aerial artists, highly skilled on trapeze, hoop, fabric, rope, straps and loop, offering solo, double, synchronized and group acts. With over eight years of experience performing in the Toronto area, this group is now based in San Miguel and is a “must-see.” The Gypsy jazz band Gil and Cartas, well known locally for their appearances at Finnegan’s, Bella Italia, Teatro Ángela Peralta and other venues, has become internationally renowned, frequently performing in New York and other major cities. With guitar, violin and bass, they perform a soulful mix of flamenco, gypsy jazz, bluegrass, and Mexican folk music. Tickets for this not-to-be-missed evening are on sale now, from 9am to 7pm daily, in the Biblioteca courtyard. Come help us support the concept of “Theater for the people and people for the theater”—then watch for Moby Dick, coming soon to a plaza near you!
