Pleymobil came into being when Hector Rodríguez and Andres Suarez met in music school in Mexico City where they quickly identified a shared desire to make music which would be uniquely their own.
|
While traveling outside their own country, they finally found the right name for their band—Pleymobil. Remembering those famous toys that every little kid used to have, they agreed to name the band Pleymobil as a parody of those who continue wasting their lives playing around.
They have kept alive the spirit of creating original music while involved in different projects. Playing all around Mexico City, things went well, but not as well as they had hoped. Eventually Andres, following his heart, arrived in San Miguel in January. It only took one phone call to get Rodríguez to join him here. And, the rest, as they say, is history. Pleymobil is in concert at the Teatro Santa Ana on Wednesday, May 2. Tickets are available at the theater box office.
Who is Pleymobil?
Hector Rodríguez plays the bass and guitar and performs vocals. His most important influences are Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Led Zepellin, The Beatles and Creedence to mention a few. He believes that the best way of doing things is with all your heart.
Andres Suarez plays guitar and harmonica and also performs vocals. He started playing at the age of 18. His most important influences are Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Donovan, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Beck, Sigur Ros and others. He believes that through music you can change the world and make it smile.
Xavier Olazábal plays the drums, and his most important influences are Manu Katche and all the music of the world. Olazábal believes that the dreams we have are like messages that we teach the universe. When we finally understand them, it makes our way easier to follow.
