The Intuitive Touch

The role of intuition in healing: quackery or truth?
When you talk to your God, we call that “prayer.” When God talks to you, we call that “intuition.”
When it comes to healthcare, we have been raised in our modern society to discard anything that appears unscientific and irreproducible. Medicine has created double-blind studies to show the efficacy of certain treatments. While strict medical standards are inherently designed to protect the consumer, I would like to suggest that you may consider that there is more to healing than meets the eye. The sugar pill that creates the same effect as the antibiotic on the body validates to some extent the notion that many times there is more going on in the healing process than simply a chemical reaction to a drug.
What is the cardio-thoracic surgeon implying when he states, “The heart surgery was successful and I am very pleased with my work; now let’s wait for three days to see how your body reacts”?
What he is saying, in more certain terms, is that the physical repair of the heart has been complete and now the true healing depends on God or Mother Nature and it is out of his hands. Some patients respond well to such surgical procedures while others who received the same procedure die within a few days. Yes, there is more to healing than exact science. To that effect, I want to share with you the role that intuition plays in healing as well.
When a mother simply senses that her baby in the other room is in danger it cannot be explained in scientific terms. The hunch that the businessman gets can make or break a deal if he listens.
The “bad vibes” that a woman senses about an airplane trip is a common story that has avoided many catastrophies. The doctor who reads the x-rays, MRI and blood analysis and concludes that nothing is physiologically wrong but still “knows that he knows” that something is wrong, no matter what the tests say, is using the power of intuition. Can healers afford to depend on these “intuitive hits” when it comes to your health?
In my opinion, a true healer can’t afford not to listen to his or her inner voice when it comes to healing. According to Dr. Carolyn Myss, author of Anatomy of the Spirit, and Dr. Norman Shealy, neurosurgeon and author, there are two very distinct species of human beings walking our planet in this modern era. There are the “five-sensory beings” who trust only in what they can see, touch, smell, taste and hear. There is also a relatively new species that has evolved and has been steadily increasing in numbers with our population explosion. They are known as the “multi-sensory beings.” These are the human beings who use their “extrasensory abilities” in all walks of life. I believe that we are seeing a revolution of sorts in modern healing that reflects this human evolution. We have grown from the old days of leeches sucking out the blood filled with bad spirits, to tinctures and potions, to modern drugs. We have “evolved” from electrical shock therapy and gross surgical procedures of amputation to ultrasound,
infrared, ultraviolet and x-ray. As we continue to advance in the evolution of healing, we are moving further and further from invasive procedures and into more subtle energies. We have entered into the era of using our electromagnetic field to diagnose and treat disease. It is called magnetic resonance imaging. Continuing along the same subtle energies, we have laser surgeries and radioactive isotopes, to name only two. Although acupuncture, chiropractic and homeopathy are not new by any stretch of the imagination, only now are authorities beginning to recognize their efficacy in the scientific community. Alternative medicine has become mainstream.
In an article written in Prevention magazine a few years ago, the topic was how Blue Cross insurance company was reimbursing a reiki practitioner for her services for pre-surgical energy work. We are slowly recognizing the value of less invasive treatment that deals with energy and light. As a chiropractor, author and professional speaker, I travel throughout Mexico and the US teaching courses in energy healing and intuition. As the evolution of our intuitive abilities and extrasensory gifts are progressing, I am observing that our health challenges are evolving as well. We are seeing more emotional and mental challenges that affecting the physical body. Chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, bipolar disorders, Alzheimer’s, restless leg syndrome and ADD/ADHD are just a few of the new disorders that didn’t even exist 100 years ago, let alone 200 years ago. The changes of related energetic imbalances often go undetected by the traditional allopathic practitioner. We are entering into the era when intuition and
energy management will be playing as much a role in healing as anything physical. New teachers who integrate mind, body, spirit and emotion as part of their treatment will be the norm as we continue to progress. The popularity of Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, Carolyn Myss, Eckart Tolle and so many others are evidence of this shift in healing. More responsibility is placed on the patient rather than the doctor in order to promote healing.
What seemed to be very far-fetched, esoteric views of the human are now very well accepted. We have the MRI and the Kirlian xamera. We have other biofeedback mechanisms and many other advancements at our disposal to document to some extent what the ancient sages knew, and only now with quantum physics are we beginning to see their wisdom. There are still those narrow-minded who cannot accept the evidence. Nonetheless, our intuition will play a major part in future healing, and our knowledge of energy beyond the visible level will lead us to healthier, more balanced living.
