To visit the biosphere reserve of the monarch butterfly, it is important to understand the phenomenon and cultivate a critical awareness of the threat imposed by human activities in Canada, Mexico and the US.

This incredible insect weighs less than two grams and its long-distance migrations cover several generations during a year. Sanmiguelenses visit the sites from November to March.

The Michoacán monarchs migrate 4,000 kilometers from the US east of the Rockies. They encounter hail, rain, natural predators like sparrows and the destruction of habitat in Canada, the US and Mexico.

This unique natural phenomenon has been threatened in the last year since the relative population of colonies at 12 sites where they hibernate generally was not found at five sites and at the other seven sites, the occupied surface diminished 75 percent from three years ago.

I have visited the Monarch site at least 20 times each cycle over the last seven years. My Tuesday lecture is profuse in images to illustrate commentary on this amazing phenomenon.

Walking is an everyday activity we don’t pay much attention to until we have some pain. We think that walking itself is nothing special unless it’s in a beautiful place. But we all walk a lot, even if it’s just at home.

Your walking may be light or heavy, fast or slow, happy or difficult…depending on how your joints are moving and the mood you’re in. And a kind, graceful, happy and easy walk is with open joints involving the entire skeletal system. This is the kind of walking that allows you to see a broad perspective, to dance with the cobblestones. Most people think that only legs and feet carry the body when we walk. We also believe that we walk the way we walk, and that’s the way it is. But we can change the way we walk and make it smarter by learning how to use the skeletal system and open the joints. You can learn how to walk in an open and enjoyable way, improving the way you live your body.

There will be exercises for you to experience open movement during the presentation. Contact me for more information at ambodyart@gmail.com.

Submerged in primordial happiness

Learning to decipher what the Soul desires can only be accomplished by strengthening the connection, by being one with the one, the unknown and profound inner being, by coming close to the pristine waters and impregnating oneself with the sweet aroma that the divine soul exhales like the perfume of a thousand lotuses in bloom. We must open the possibilities of returning…allow ourselves to be submerged in primordial happiness. All of this is possible, here and now, because the spirit is a palpable reality for those who choose the path of love.

The aim of all true spiritual paths is to liberate man from a terrible blindness which causes the destruction of our planet, the delusion of separation and the hate of war. Given the crude reality of the situation, man needs to remember who he is, go to the center of his being where duality ceases and the caress of love touches the soul and awakens it.

To learn to hear the heart, we must quiet the mind with its ceaseless false projections. And for this there are powerful tools that can be implemented to cut through the ego-mind and make direct contact with our source: the truth within us.

Once we remember that we are children of the light, created to experience and manifest the infinite beauty of the divine, then we enter the process of allowing ourselves to be reconstructed internally, so that this life may be used to incarnate our “unknown and profound inner being,” ever ascending into the heights of love.

Alejandro Negrete offers spiritual counseling, Christic Reiki Healing and Pneuma Breathwork sessions in his private practice. He is a certified facilitator of the Pneuma System and teaches the second module, The Transpersonal Universe, during February and March. Info: alepneuma@yahoo.com , Pneuma System: www.inkarri.org.
