When we turn our attention to the annual returning of the seasons, the monthly phases of the Moon and the daily rising of the Sun, it seems as though all of life is continuously unfolding in cycles—reflecting the imprint of an infinite intelligence in which the development of human experience seems intricately linked.
Astrology is the earliest recorded system of intellectual inquiry giving significance to cycles of nature that mirror similar cycles in the human psyche—birthing, flowering, decaying and dying. At the new Moon, when the Sun and Moon embrace to birth a new month, astrologers portend a golden opportunity to set an intention for a new birth in self-awareness.
This month the new Moon is in Taurus, and we on Earth are given the opportunity to build something of indestructible security that can stand the shifting winds and eroding tides of time. Taurus is the aspect in each of us seeking security in that which belongs to us and to no one else. The new Moon in Taurus offers a month for reflecting on the earthy theme of endurance. What better day than Earth Day to evaluate our emotional attachment to superficial securities which have little relationship to our enduring self?
Taurus is the seasonal cycle of fertility when the Earth’s womb, impregnated by the returning solar vitality of the Sun at spring, ripens with the sweet perfume of new vegetation, promising the juicy sweetness of summer’s abundance. Something within each of us also ripens into fruitfulness, if we are willing to decipher the cosmic signs permeating the atmosphere this month and direct our awareness to the sweetness of our authentic self. This month we can set an intention to become more of who we truly are by trusting in our inner wealth, committing to the arduous work of becoming our more profound self and partaking in the pure pleasure of our being.

Teotihuacán represents myth, architecture and culture—cosmic order and the birth of the gods, 2,000-year-old urban design and a pattern of cultural development lasting 700 years.
|
Wise Teotihuacán architects placed the cosmopolitan city as an extension and permanent link between it, the region, the planet and the universe. The city, which grew to perhaps 100,000 people, was one of the largest in the world at the time and was the most influential in Mesoamerica during the Classic period (200–900 CE).
Today it is one of the most investigated and spectacular archaeological sites of pre-Hispanic Mexico. It is the cultural and social bridge between the formative and post-classic eras in Mesoamerica, one of the world’s six original civilizations. It embodies Mexican iconography and such idiosyncrasies as the use of public spaces to transmit knowledge, ideas and ideology.
Dozens of photographs illustrate this virtual tour of a UNESCO World Heritage site. In addition to pyramids (the second highest in the world), murals, squares, palaces and residential areas, Teotihuacán offers a fine museum and a restaurant inside a spectacular natural cave. Recent discoveries at the site and their relationship to contemporary Mexican culture will be covered.
