The Mysteries of La Virgen de Guadalupe
Georgeann Johnson
Sat, Dec 8, 6–7pm
Warren Hardy Language School
San Rafael 6
On Saturday, December 8, local resident Georgeann Johnson presents a slideshow talk on “The Mysteries of La Virgen de Guadalupe.” This is an excellent time to see an historical overview, as the celebration on December 12 of La Virgen draws near. The talk and images foster insights into her uniqueness as a symbol of the heart and soul of Mexico. The roots of her legend intertwine in the history, archaeology and culture of Mexico; in the streets and homes of Mexico, one is often witness to the layers of La Virgen. This talk, presented for the first time last year, was well received by Mexicans and foreigners. It is a synthesis of legend, astrology, archaeo-astronomy and history.
Johnson is an educator, astrologer and practicing visionary. Her background in starlore, mythology, archaeo-astronomy and photography have all combined to present a new look at the Empress of the Americas. She says, only half-jokingly, that the talk is a “mything link” in the history and mythology of La Virgen de Guadalupe.
The talk is set for 6–7pm at the Warren Hardy Language School. The school is across from the San Juan de Dios church at San Rafael 6; use the side entrance. The cost is 50 pesos..
