Funding reduced for patron saint celebration

September is the most festive month in San Miguel; besides the national celebration of Mexican independence, the city’s patron saint is honored on the weekend following September 29, San Miguel Arcángel Day.
|
During the traditional Alborada held Friday night and early Saturday morning, fireworks and rockets explode in front of the parroquia. On Saturday afternoon, large, elaborate floral tributes, xúchiles, are paraded to the parroquia, accompanied by mojigangas and costumed dancers.
