City takes preventive measures in wake of flu outbreak

Nearly all public gatherings in San Miguel have been brought to a halt after municipal authorities, following a mandate by the federal government, closed public institutions and suspended events until May 6 due to the swine flu outbreak. No cases of swine flu have been confirmed in the municipality.

Local Tradition
Santa Cruz: San Miguel’s main celebration is in Puerto de Calderón on May 3. During May, Guadiana, Ojo de Agua, La Palmita and Valle del Maíz have their own celebrations.
Community
The Rotary Club of San Miguel–Midday donated a camera for detecting retinopathy caused by diabetes and a laser to correct the problem to the General Hospital Felipe C. Dobarganes.
