The race for mayor is on

| Cristóbal Finkelstein Franyuti, of the Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), and Lucy Núñez de Zavala, supported by the opposition parties PRD (Revolución Democrática), PRI (Revolucionario Institucional), Partido Verde and PT (Partido del Trabajo), have emerged as the two registered mayoral candidates in San Miguel de Allende. The campaign lasts from May to June and elections are held July 5. If Franyuti wins the election, he will head the city’s fifth consecutive PAN government.
