Stream of conscience: reviving las Cachinches

Several streams cross through San Miguel from east to west, though most are dry during all but the rainy season. Of these waterways, the Arroyo de las Cachinches is the largest, running from Presa del Obraje to empty into Presa Allende. Choked with weeds and garbage and polluted with sewage, the stream has become a malodorous eyesore, but the local government recently began a campaign to reclaim the Arroyo de las Cachinches.
