Hospice holds first congress on palliative care

Usually, a doctor’s goal is to fight disease and save patients’ lives; death is seen as a failure.
|
But many times, efforts to keep terminally ill patients alive only prolong their or their families’ emotional suffering. Through palliative care, Hospice San Miguel offers the option for terminal patients to have a good death. Hospice helps patients make decisions about how and where they want to spend the remainder of their lives and strives to meet the patient’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, as well as the needs of the whole family.
