Shades of blue: locals tend toward Obama

According to some estimates, between 8,000 and 9,000 Americans live in San Miguel,
and interest in the upcoming US presidential election is high here. San Miguel has the largest chapter of Democrats Abroad in Mexico, and during the organization’s first international Democratic primary election more than 500 people voted, the third largest group of expats to vote worldwide.
