A hard rain’s gonna fall…in September

Heavy rains in late July, though beneficial to crops in the San Miguel countryside, have flooded some rural communities in the northern area of the municipality. 

According to Alan Álvarez, head of the Civil Protection Department, heavy rains of 30 to 50 millimeters an hour during the last three days of July exceeded the regional average of 10 millimeters an hour. Presa Allende is now almost double its normal level (about 60 percent of its total capacity) and had to be drained off into the Río Laja basin..
