FORUMS & LETTERS

Editor,

I am a first-time visitor to San Miguel and, this afternoon, had an a most affirming experience to attest to the courtesy and honesty of your taxicab drivers. About an hour after our return from shopping, our taxicab driver delivered to us our digital camera, which had been left in the cab. We had not yet had the time to miss it and surely would have spent a lot of time searching for it, and been disappointed with the loss, as it contains many wonderful photos of the town and activities we have enjoyed thus far.

My regret is that I did not ask the name of our thoughtful and honest cab driver, so that he could receive recognition for his act. An experience such as this is what tourists should hear about, as an example of the safety and kindnesses extended to visitors to San Miguel de Allende.

Gratefully,

Sylvia D.

Editor,

Why do we not have an association to advertise and promote theater in San Miguel? A theater association can produce a festival of theater with many plays going simultaneously. We can do it on themes: “Plays of the Fifties,” “The Comic Playwrights,” “The New Playwrights” or “Ibsen, Strindberg and Odets.”

We can cooperate to the benefit of all. We can create an actors’ workshop. We can actually improve our craft and art.

We can go beyond the summer and winter season; we can appeal to more of our resident base, we can share our ideas...

Or is it our nature to be competitive, competitive to our own disadvantage?

(The officers of the association should not be affiliated with any San Miguel theater company.)
