On behalf of San Miguel Democrats Abroad, I want to thank all those who attended our Fourth Annual 4th of July Party at the Hotel Real de Minas. Because of your support, this was the largest 4th of July event in our history.

We certainly want to thank all of those who worked so hard to make this event such a great success! We particularly want to thank the Events Manager of the Hotel Real de Minas, Mukarram Dadajonova and Elena Montserrat of Las Cervezas Modelo del Bajio for all that they did to make this party our greatest success to date.

See you next 4th of July!

Many times I have heard the lament that “All politicians are crooks, so what is the point in insisting on fairness?” Recently I petitioned the city to be granted the same rights that all of my neighbors have enjoyed. I offered no bribes, made no threats, used no influence, did not resort to lawyers or the courts. My strategy was persistence.

Armed with the knowledge that I was in the right, I made them aware that I was not going to go away, but would continue to repeat my request. Eventually I received the construction permit needed in order to gain the same innate rights to security and privacy that everyone should enjoy.

So take heart! We all realize that with the political system now in place that often government is not responsive to the needs of ordinary people. With re-election prohibited, they will never have to face the voters again. However a legitimate grievance cannot be ignored forever if it is constantly brought to the attention of our public servants.
