Editor,

The Board of Directors of Hospice San Miguel would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to the following people who made our second annual Have a Heart for Hospice exhibition and silent auction such a success. We netted over 45,000 pesos.

Many thanks to William Martin for the use of his wonderful gallery, to all the incredibly talented artists and designers for their imaginative donated heart-themed artwork, to all the residents and visitors of San Miguel who came out February 12–14, to support our work, and to our volunteers! It was a successful and fun event and we could not have done it without you! Mil gracias!

Editor,

Full Moon Organics, a new organization that unites businesses, nonprofit organizations and community members who support sustainability and good health, kicked off its first of many full-moon scheduled fundraisers. Over 200 people and 10 local sponsors came to the February 11 Organic Fiesta at Casa Angelitos to support the children at Waldorf San Miguel. Like Waldorf schools all over the world, Waldorf San Miguel employs a holistic approach to education that nurtures the compassion, creativity and skills needed to respond to challenges that face our planet. Special thanks go to Luna de Queso, Luce, Banco Vivo, Bajo Fondo, The Restaurant at Sollano 16, Bove, Toyan, Olga Clara, Camilo, Analfo, Ronnie and Rose Cummins, and Rosana Jones for their special efforts in making the evening a culinary and musical “happening.” Says Roger, “the party represented the ‘village,’ unified in its commitment to environmental responsibility, that is helping us raise Isabella and her friends at Waldorf San Miguel to become the change agents of tomorrow.” Full Moon Organics will sponsor more fundraising events around the full moon. Watch for details!

Editor,

I would like to thank the many San Miguel artists who were so generous with their work for last Sunday’s Casitas de Aves auction. With their kind donations and the help of hundreds of concerned sanmiguelenses, El Charco and Audubon were able to raise over US$20,000. This will keep our heads above water for weeks to come. Thanks to all who served.
