Editor,

An amazing thing has happened: Donors have pledged scholarship funds for three of our girls to begin at the Waldorf School immediately! In fact, they began Wednesday. Congratulations to Gui Gue, Maru and her little sister, Dulce. And thanks to the Waldorf School folks for this great opportunity for the girls.

Extra special thanks to the donors. We’ll share the details soon, but in the meantime another opportunity presents itself: beginning tomorrow, we need transportation for these little girls from Plaza Pueblito (where the gym and El Viejo Topo are and the old Kike’s was) on Stirling Dickinson each weekday to Casa Hogar Santa Julia at 1:50pm. The Waldorf bus drops them off there. Might you be able to help with this? If so, please contact me immediately at 152-3709, (925) 418-8003, robin@robinloving.com , or info@santajulia.org.

Also many thanks to all who joined the Santa Julia girls at the Shanti San Miguel opening Sunday, March 22, for delicious Indian food donated by owner Brett Knobel. As a result of donations of 6,000 pesos during a delightful event, the Madres in charge of Casa Hogar Santa Julia have the wherewithal to provide the basic needs for six of their 40 children for a month.

Editor,

Karl Gerzan’s February 28 show went very well—24 of 27 pieces were auctioned off and he donated 6,000 pesos to the Oz Project on March 5. The money helped pay for the Teen Writers’ Workshop that we did with the Authors’ Sala and the Writers’ Conference.

One of my new partners is FINO. On May 1, we’re taking their kids in Jalpa for tethered balloon rides. Tomorrow, I’m a judge in the burro contest. Hijoles! I was a suburban housewife in Texas until three years ago. Most boring life in the world! Now it’s burros, children and hot air balloons.

Thanks for all the support.
