Editor,

Regarding Charles Miller’s “Hints From Emily (Web) Post” of last week: the only thing I would add to his otherwise excellent article would be to encourage users to make use of the “Bcc” field when emailing a number of recipients—add yourself to the “To” field and everyone else to the Bcc field. That way, all recipients see only that you mailed yourself. It’s discreet, shows you know what you’re doing, and respects people's privacy.

Editor,

I don't know who else to ask, but I was wondering … while I was away did someone steal (sell) San Miguel? I am trying to figure how they did this. Who sold it? Who bought it? Does anyone know? How did the Comercial Mexicana become a MEGA? How did the Pollo Feliz (they can’t be too happy) cross the street and expand to a Mega Pollo Feliz? Is this the Celayazation of San Miguel? Are those buyers/sellers of this town purposely making everything as ugly as possible? Is there really a Dunkin’ Donuts banner hanging in the window across from the Jardín? Did I hallucinate, or are there men under umbrellas selling penthouses on the Caracol?
Would somebody help me out? Did I make a wrong turn? Where am I?
Is this a nightmare? Somebody, please wake me up!

Bob Freeman

Editor,

I heard from Toni Gutfreund of Chicago of the death of the great Manuel Zavala of XESQ Radio. R.I.P. We became friends because we were fellow broadcasters. I was a retired executive radio drama producer for CBC Radio Canada’s Prairie Region and was in awe at how this modest man conducted a radio network and a telegraph service at little or no fee.
He honoured me by giving me access to XESQ, with his son as technician, to broadcast a classical music programme once a week.
He gave Patricio Hynes and me maximum support as cofounders of the first St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Atención covered my accounts of the decision of the courts that at last resolved the matter of ownership of XESQ, which in the popular view had been usurped. I was with the triumphant crowd as we marched to place Don Manuel back in his rightful place.
