Love is…its own reward
By Christine Foster

So what are people saying about Love Is…, the full-length film about nine eccentric couples at different stages of their zany relationships, all shot on location in San Miguel?

Here’s a sample: “Fresh, natural and shamelessly entertaining,” says Merrell Greenwood, a jeweler from California. “It really shows the town as not only beautiful, but romantic,” agrees Charles Northcote, a literary agent from Toronto. “A place for couples and for falling in love.”

“It is completely charming and so well acted,” adds Gillian Rix, a book designer from the UK, who bought two copies to take home. “And of course it’s just wonderful to be able to show your friends where you’ve been and how magical the place truly is.”

“Lovely, warm hearted and really comical,” comments Ted Czukor, a yoga instructor from Arizona. “We howled with delight. And it’s got to be the best tourist advertisement San Miguel could ever have!”

“I just want to know if the dog is up for adoption,” grinned Pete Reynolds, a store owner from Querétaro, He was raving about the adorable Luci, a scruffy white terrier (owned and trained by local resident Kathi Hamblet ) who plays the street dog who links the stories together. (Luci has been accused of rampant scene stealing by other performers, but has refused comment.)

Tickets are available at the door, at the theater box office in advance, or online at loveisthemovie.com. The DVD is for sale at many San Miguel retail locations, including La Tienda in the Biblioteca.
