Postcards of San Miguel
December 19, 2008 San Miguel de Allende

This year, instead of the annual calendar, the Garden Club of San Miguel de Allende publishes its first book of postcards. An ideal Christmas gift for the “green at heart” the colorful book features photographs from some of the city’s best professional and amateur photographers.

The club was founded in 1968 when a few expatriates with a love of gardening joined together to contribute to the beauty and charm of San Miguel. From its modest beginning, the club has grown in both size and stature, and is now involved in many civic improvements, including the beautification of many sites in the heart of San Miguel and nearby areas.

Our recent projects include planting trees in barren barrios, planting a vegetable garden at the home for the aged, providing benches and shade trees in parks and school yards, and funding an environmental education program in the public schools as well as funding projects at El Charco del Ingenio (the Botanical Gardens) housing and propagating the most extensive collection of rare and endangered Mexican cacti and succulents in the Republic.

Look for the book at La Tienda at the Biblioteca Pública.
