Grand Opening, Cobá Art and Décor
Friday, October 13, Juarez 7
Swiss-born perfumier Jean-Jacques Diener has teamed up with his wife, Emilia Diener, in a new venture selling fine furniture and accessories from India and other countries. The new shop, Cobá Art and Decor, is located at Juarez 7 in Centro and offers items in a variety of price ranges.
| Jean-Jacques Diener was born in Switzerland. At 22 he moved to Grasse, in the south of France, to learn the art of perfume making. He landed his first job as a junior perfumier in Geneva, Switzerland, and four years later was transferred to Paris, where he created fragrances for many famous fashion designers. |
After two years the perfumier moved to New York City, where he created fragrances for such well-known designers as Cartier, Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Gianni Versace, Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Hermes, Bulgari and many others.

Jean-Jacques met his wife, Emilia, who was born in Veracruz, Mexico, during a business trip to Los Angeles. After dating for over a year, they married in Portofino, Italy. Thirteen years later, they decided to move to San Miguel de Allende.
Emilia traveled frequently with her husband, and he quickly noted her talent for style and eye for design and décor. Cobá is the fulfillment of the Dieners’ dream to open a store in San Miguel that offers some of the beautiful furniture and furnishings they have seen on their extensive travels.
Along with furniture from India, Mexico and other countries, Cobá’s collection also includes hand-picked art and many special decorative pieces, including fine pottery by Angelica, an artist who has shown her work during Guanajuato’s International Cervantino Festival.
