Books abound almost in every room, old stone floors and ancient wood doors were used everywhere, with wood ceilings and antique beams from Chiapas, Michoacán and Puebla. The tranquil library is filled with old as well as recent family photos, books and comfortable seating areas. The intimate dining room is decorated with porcelain Chinese Foo dogs, ornaments and a marvelous mirror painted on reverse glass from Peru. A wood saint is placed in front of the mirror. Divided by a partial wall which is topped with antique pots from Guerrero and Chiapas, the semicircular kitchen is the only modern-looking room in the house. The living room has two separate seating areas due to its size and is filled with outstanding obets d’art from all over Mexico. It leads out to the pool and o
utdoor seating areas which offer bucolic moments in which to relax and treasure the incomparable views surrounding them. A small, shaded rounded plot with a Chiapas cross and carved cantera statue of an angel marks the grave of one of their dogs, although they now have two adorable, if occasionally naughty, Scotties. The study doubles as a guest bedroom when needed and opens to its own porch which faces the ancient troje (granary or barn) which was shipped piece by piece from Veracruz and reassembled on the property. The master bedroom upstairs contains a sizeable porch and private rooftop deck encompassing the views in every direction.

2. Las Trojes (the granaries) is a three-bedroom house composed of three 150-year-old wooden trojes, a rustic home with all modern amenities. |
The floors are made of wide wooden planks. The master bedroom is above the living room with a huge bathroom and dressing room complete with a Jacuzzi. The eat-in kitchen is large with a fireplace and breakfast porch. The other two bedrooms have lofts with spectacular views of San Miguel and the countryside, and the property contains both an enclosed and herb garden.
