Ibérica Contemporánea in San Miguel and Querétaro By Atención Staff

For the first time, the International Dance Festival Ibérica Contemporánea in Mexico will share venues in San Miguel and Querétaro. 

The festival is an important international dance forum which presents more than 70 international artists from Spain, Cuba, Argentina and Mexico, who are representatives of Spanish dance and other disciplines such as classic ballet, contemporary dance and folkloric dance. Another important aspect of the festival are the courses, master classes, lectures and workshops, related to dance study and research, given by international dance experts and professionals. 

Ibérica Contemporánea appeared for the first time in Querétaro in 2007, thanks to an initiative of Centro ProArt and to the support and collaboration of different public and private institutions in Querétaro. This is the festival’s second edition. 

Guitar concerts, dance performances and galas will be performed in different venues in Querétaro. On Wednesday, July 15, San Miguel de Allende receives Ibérica Contemporánea in the Angela Peralta for a one time performance of “Andalucía en México,” a Spanish Dance Gala. Several international artists participate in the performance, such as Eduardo Veitía, founder of the Spanish Ballet of Cuba; the Cuban dancer Irene Rodríguez; Flamenco dancer Joaquín Ruiz; the Spanish dancer Raquel Ruiz, member of the Compañía Ibérica de Danza; the “bailaor” Edu Lozano, born in Córdova; the “bailaor” Juan Paredes, a soloist in the Compañía Andaluza de Danza; and the flamenco guitarist Pedro Sierra.
