La Casa de la Cultura officially recognizes Ballet Folklorico as a representative of San Miguel that has represented the city at cultural gatherings throughout Mexico.
Ballet Folklorico presents a fundraising fiesta mexicana featuring a program of regional dances, a buffet meal of traditional Mexican food and a fashion show of ethnic costumes. The event will be supplemented by live music, a raffle and a cash bar.
The costs of maintaining Ballet Folklorico are high and are met by the dancers themselves. Foremost amongst these are the costs of costumes and shoes. The proceeds from this fundraiser will go some way toward offsetting the costs of the diverse costumes and shoes.
In addition, a portion of the proceeds will help Augustina “Guty” Jimenez, who has been fighting breast cancer for two years. The grandmother of dancer Rodrigo recently underwent a mastectomy and is now going through chemotherapy. She needs economic help at this time.
Tickets are available at La Conexión, Aldama 3, and at the door.
