A dancer, percussionist, singer and choreographer from West Africa, Samba Diop has been in several Senegal ballets and concerts and currently dances at concerts in France and Holland.
Dance and percussion workshops with Samba Diop help disseminate African music and traditional dance. One dances for life, one dances for expression, one dances for stress relief and to forget worries. The beauty of movement calls upon intuition and improvisation from the dancers, and interaction with the musicians.
African dance incorporates every part of the body. If you can move your hair, you should do it. If you can move your nails, you should do it! African dances are full of vitality, promoting a total body feeling and offering a variety of movements that many have lost in their everyday lives. A key feature is the enjoyable movement of the spine, pelvis and shoulder as independent centers.
African drumming workshops encourage relaxation, mutual appreciation and togetherness, and promote self-confidence, creativity and well-being. They help you understand the polyrhythmic nature of African music.
Beginner and intermediate workshops address dancers and drummers of every age and any previous experience.
