In a flamenco presentation titled “The Silence of Life … ¡Lotería!,” the performers use this form of dance and music to evoke some of the emotions conjured by the idea of death, drawing upon classic characters from the game Lotería.
This popular Mexican pastime, similar to bingo, uses a series of cards printed with everyday objects, animals and characters. In this way, Lotería is in a sense a pictorial representation of life and death, a game in which everything blends together in the game of identity.
| Through flamenco, the performers propose their own vision of death as it reconciles with life, expressing in song and dance the rhythm of freedom and the intense living of life.
