“We just realized the only thing we’re missing in life are grandkids,” said recent visitors to Casa Hogar Santa Julia.
|
“We’ve got 40 girls here who would love to have grandparents,” responded Madre Maria de Jesús Ortiz Balderas, mother superior and director of the home of girls aged 1-18.
Because the US and Canada celebrate national grandparents’ day on September 13, we decided to invite as many as 40 fellows and 40 ladies to become grandparents for that day. No experience necessary!
The application is easy; email info@santajulia.org
with name, age, languages spoken, your interests and a digital photo if it is convenient.
You will be contacted with the name, age, languages spoken, interests and photo of the girl for whom you will be grandparent. You will meet your Santa Julia girl at La Crepe Restaurant for a special lunch at either 11am, 12:30pm, or 2pm. La Crepe will be open that day only for Santa Julia Grandparents’ Day participants.
They will serve either their Poblano Pepper Crepe, with corn, cheese and cream sauce, or Crepe Naomi, with mushrooms, caramelized onions, mushroom sauce and a touch of sherry. Salad, vanilla ice cream with fruit sauce, soft drinks and coffee are included. Tips and other beverages or foods will be extra. Only 200 pesos per person will cover your meal and a meal for your ‘grand girl.’
Photos will be taken and sent by email to all ‘grandparents,’ and all who participate will be invited to other events with the girls during the year. Make it a Grand Day! Send your email today!
