San Miguel resident Maria Teresa Valenzuela, acknowledged as an Indigenous Elder and Abuela of Mexico, was invited by Don Alexandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj to his conferences on Sacred Places on Earth in Pittsburg in December 2007. Don Alexandro, the Chief Maya Elder, 13 Lineage holder of the Mayan Prophecy/Maya Calendar, is currently traveling the world to discuss the true essence of indigenous wisdom found in the Mayan Prophecies. They were joined by other indigenous leaders including Abuela Flor de Mayo from Nicaragua, member of the 13 International Indigenous Grandmothers Council to the United States.
Maria Teresa will discuss the meanings of the Mayan Prophecy for the indigenous elders at her lecture at the Biblioteca Pública.
“There is a place hidden in the shadows occult to the average human understanding. In the path of time we come across the mysteries of creation: writings, glyphs, petroglyphs, stelae, pyramids, astronomy, astrology, architecture, numerology, naturopathy and the long count of 5200 years, which is a cycle of the sun.
In this world there is a profound knowledge; it is in our lives, we are guided by the stars and are connected to Mother Nature. The prophecies are being fulfilled. In their true mandate they say that the loyal guardians, wise servants, keepers of the great traditions will return. If you are sleeping—awaken; look above and you will find what is written upon you.
In the same way you have blood running through your veins, Mother Earth does too. It is our drink. It is our nourishment; the sacred water we drink. The advances in technology are admired by the great majority. The black cloud is growing at a fast speed, it is what is going to take our lives. Men, women, and children are sick; animals and plants with plagues.
The time of the 13 Baktun and 13 Ahaw is when the prophecies are fulfilled. If we look up above, there are three stars in the sky. If we look down we will find three brothers holding hands, engraved in petroglyphs. If we look underground we will find three currents of water. All are symbols that we are brothers and sisters.
Tomorrow is for our children. And the water on our Mother Earth is for all future generations. It is for the life of all living beings—humans, animals, plants. We are all children of Mother Earth.
I ask you people, please do not destroy the future of our Mother Earth. Let’s not be bad children to our Mother. We are children of time, children of light. We are all pilgrims across time.
Again, if you are asleep—wake up! Start walking. Look up above you. Look up at what is written upon you. You will see the stars upon you. They are the ones that guide us. They are the ones that lead us to our individual destiny.
Where there are petroglyphs, you will see three beings holding hands. From the south, the north, the east and the west directions, we are all brothers and sisters holding hands.
We are flowers of the Mother Earth of different colors, languages and sentiments. But we are all the same. Our Father the Creator is One; only One. And only one is in charge of the heavens. He is the same heart of the earth, heart of the wind, heart of the water, and heart of the fire. These four elements nourish each one of us. They are what keep us alive here on this planet.
Do not be afraid when the end of 13 Baktun/13Ahaw comes and we enter Zero day. The Maya call it the Long Count. Zero is the end of one cycle of the Sun. One cycle of the Sun is 5200 years. When Zero Day comes the Mother Earth will darken. It is a change of consciousness. In these times, you hear by many that are not Maya, that the time will be 2012, but we the Maya do not really even know when Zero day will come; it could be 2011, 2012, 2013. We just do not know. The Maya lost count more than 500 years ago. When the invasion came with the Spaniards, they killed our wise elders, mothers and fathers, great teachers, and many people. They gathered our books with all our records in one place and were ordered to be burned by Diego de Landa. A period after that existed in which time was suspended. A new calendar, the Gregorian Calendar, was then introduced around 1600 1700. The Maya Calendar is very different, therefore we, the Maya cannot assure you Zero Day will happen in 2012. But there is nothing to fear becaus
e this is not the end of the world. Many books have being written about the Maya Prophecy which have created great fear around the world.
When that day comes, Mother Earth will darken for several hours. We will lose the Sun. But again it could be for 24 hours, 48 hours or 60 hours. Again, we are not sure how long Mother Earth will darken, but it will happen. The electromagnetic frequencies will be felt much stronger. We will lose all electricity. Many people will go into shock. Many people will die of heart attacks. People who have lived under the illusion of material attachment/consumerism will suffer or die.
We, the Astro Maya, presently are putting a lot of attention on the central Magnetic Axis which is the center of the Milky Way. We have being studying this in our observation centers. The scientists call it the Black Hole. On Zero Day, the earth will enter the Central Magnetic Axis-again we do not know how long the earth will be in this place and when it will happen.
We are coming to the end of 5200 years; which is the end of one cycle of the Sun, and moving to a change of a new Sun. We do not know if the same Sun will rise again, a new Sun will appear, or the Sun will appear in a different direction. The end of this 5200 cycle has happened before and it is nothing new to the Maya. We are in the fifth renewal of a new Sun. To us, the Maya, we say “thank you to the creator” because it is a time of great happiness and big change on this earth. During the period of darkness, we the Maya will remember who we truly are and will be performing ceremonies, playing our music, drumming, and praying to bring in the new change. We will be praying that the beauty of the day be seen again. We will be waiting for our Sun to come out of the other side of the Mother Earth. All people around the world should be doing the same thing. If you meditate, meditate that day. If you go to church, go to your church and pray that day. Pray in your language.
Remember, we are all children of the creator. Pray to the creator on those days for him not to leave us in darkness. Pray: Grandmother of the light, Grandmother of the Sun, Grandmother of Love have compassion on us, do not desert us, do not leave us alone.

Jock Whitehouse & Patricia Mahan
LifePath Center
Recreo 80
For the first time, LifePath Center will offer its highly successful series, The Artist’s Way for both men and women starting Friday, February 1.
This 10-week creative recovery course is based on the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. The bedrock of this guided course focuses on creating pathways into your consciousness where blocks (we all have them) are dissolved, allowing you to regain your creativity. The author states “no matter your age or lifepath, creativity is your true nature. The objective is to align oneself with that true nature.”
Using a set of proven tools, principles, exercises, the guidance of experienced facilitators and the synergy of like-minded participants, self-limiting beliefs, fears, sabotage, jealousy, blame, guilt and other inhibiting forces will be replaced with artistic confidence and productivity, allowing participants to be freer to create or live more creatively.
Patricia Mahan and Jock Whitehouse will be the co-facilitators. Mahan has led Artist’s Way courses in Albuquerque, Portland, Sayulita, Nayarit and has been involved in the arts for over 25 years. Whitehouse, a writer, has facilitated courses at LifePath Center in transformation through crisis and brings a male perspective to the creative process.
Joseph Dispenza is the author of God On Your Own: Finding a Spiritual Path Outside Religion. He conducts retreats at LifePath Retreats in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico:

“The key to warriorship and the first principle of Shambhala vision is not being afraid of who you are. We need to discover what we inherently have to offer to the world”
–Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche
Shambhala Training Programs were founded by Chogyam Trungpa and the principles on which it is based are explained in his book Shambhala The Sacred Path of the Warrior. Shambhala Training is inspired by the ancient legend of an enlightened society based on gentle and fearless action which is grounded in the basic nature of human beings.
Shambhala Training is a secular meditation training suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators. By looking directly at our own experience, we discover a continuity of awareness underlying the changing conditions that make up our lives. This leads to the development of genuine confidence, humor, and personal dignity within the complexities of daily life. This first level “The Art of Being Human” focuses on the basic technique of mindfulness meditation.
By settling our minds, we begin to see the magic of the world beyond our habitual filters, and experience the quality of basic goodness which can neither be created nor destroyed. The weekend includes an introduction to sitting meditation practice, talks by Acharya Allyn Lyon, individual meetings with a meditation instructor, and group discussion. We welcome people of all religious traditions as well as those who do not follow a particular spiritual path.
The Art of Being Human will be taught by Acharya Allyn Lyon, a senior teacher appointed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, and acts as his personal representative in teaching Shambhala Buddhism. She has served as the Director of Shambhala Mountain Center in Colorado and has taught at the Vajradhatu Seminary. Acharya Lyon has traveled and taught extensively in Europe, the US, and Mexico, as well as at Naropa University. She currently resides in Tepotzlan, Mexico.
