Good luck charms

A good luck charm may be something you love to have nearby, something so special that the very sight of it is comforting. It gives off calming energy; touching it is reassuring, and knowing it is in your life makes your day happier. For many of us, this perfectly describes our pets!

Betsy is certainly destined to become someone’s good luck charm. She is small (about 20 lbs.), a spaniel mix, only a year old, with a soft coat, freckled muzzle, and melting chocolate eyes. Her personal past has not been so lucky. She was brought to the SPA with a crushed leg. The leg has healed and is getting stronger every day, but it’s possible that she will always limp a bit. She will need exercise, but won’t be very high-energy or hard to manage. She believes her mission in life is to adore and be adored, and she is equally sweet with other dogs, cats and people, including children. She remains a little shy because of all the medical treatments, but is quick to respond and play once she is confident you are not going to stick another needle into her.
If your fancy runs to felines, you’ll be delighted by Bunny, a black-and-white kitten who came in with two siblings. The three little troopers didn’t turn a hair when playful dogs barked or sniffed around the kitten cage or on visits to the Jardín. Bunny is a perfect doll, nearly five months—still very much a baby, but as relaxed as can be. She’s happy with whatever comes her way. She will sit in your lap and purr, or be content on her own, batting around a toy. She’s a perfect good luck charm of a pet, ready to thrive in any loving household.
If the idea of adding a lucky charm to your life is appealing, a wonderful choice awaits you at the SPA. The shelter is located at Los Pinos 7, a right turn off Calzada de la Estación. Suggested donations for adoptions begin at 300 pesos, which includes sterilization and vaccinations. Visit
