Doberwoman

I want to tell you about an extraordinary dog, Vanessa, a Doberman Pinscher. She arrived emaciated and frightened. We believe she had been used as a breed dog and was in sorry shape. Her ears are frayed, as though cut with pinking shears or some other crude implement.
|
She is about two years old and got her current name, Doberwoman, from Constance Stevenson, our volunteer photographer who adores her. Who knows where she came from or why she was treated badly?
She ate willingly and soon was able to withstand a spay, a flea bath and numerous
highly caloric meals. All along she was happy to be with good people, was responsive and walked well on a leash. We feel that she would make a good family dog now that she is healthy. Vanessa has a regal bearing despite hard times. She arrived in sad shape, but has turned out to be a winner!
If you have an interest in Vanessa, please come by the shelter now or it will be too late as many people want this breed as guard dogs or for protection. She deserves better. While it is true that they are good protectors, they are also smart, easily trained, often used as therapy dogs and highly desirable. Don’t you need some fun in your life? Come and see her!
Kittens galore
| It is kitten time and they are coming in droves. Please get one while they are young and adjust easily. Two kittens are better than one because they constantly play and comfort each other. We have kittens and handsome grown cats waiting for homes. Pictured here are two very young ones who are ready for a good home. |

SPA wants you!
Now is the time to volunteer if you were ever interested! We need help with the animals, driving to the Jardín on Thursdays, monitoring a few dogs and kittens at the Jardín, giving information to the curious, getting people to join the Sociedad Protectora de Animales and raising funds. After our annual meeting and election of board members, we have a new start and there is a shuffling of jobs. If you have any special skills you can share, please call Rosa at 152-6124 at the clinic office and leave your name and phone number or just show up! The office is open Monday through Friday, 10am–2pm. Volunteers begin working after 11am so that the animals get a run, a meal and clean cages.
The shelter is located at Los Pinos 7 just off Calzada de la Estación (Canal) near the central bus station. You are welcome to drop by or check our website at
www.spasanmiguel.org.
Our building is painted bright green and can be seen easily on Los Pinos.
