Voila! Party time for dogs

What our town needs now is a doggie park, and whether your name is Smith or Hernandez, it is the perfect name to grace a donated play park for dogs. It is illegal to run your dog in San Miguel parks without a leash. |
Remember when your kids had play dates? Kids the same age got together to play as only they could, under supervision, with a few sensible rules to which all parents agreed.
| And your children came to life! That is what we would like to see happen in San Miguel with well-behaved pets. It takes a hefty donation for land and cooperation with the city, but it could happen. |

We have more and more civilized dogs that need to run and play and will follow rules.
What a spectacular way to be acknowledged or to remember a friend or family member who died. The Lucha Norris Memorial Dog Park or the Luciano Pavarotti Dog Park both sound cool. We need an acre of green land in town, and a four- to six-foot fence with water, waste pickup, two entrances, and a board of directors to oversee management of the park, and voila! Party time for dogs! Please check Dog Parks.com and see what has been done elsewhere and how to do it well. I believe local animal organizations would support this effort.
The cat I have always admired for her beauty is a grown-up kitten, a female, of course, tortoise-shell calico (orange, black and white). I have been told that this color is difficult to get adopted, but I have adopted several and deem them great beauties. Jubilee is known for the symmetry of her markings, having a perfect division down her regal nose which divides her body in half by color. I love those markings, with tiger stripes with perfect bull’s-eyes on her sides. It has been said that Jubilee has a bit of an attitude, but I have always found her totally lovable and pet-worthy. She has been moved to the female cat house now, and is happy for an available lap, some caressing and attention. Jubilee will make you jubilant! Give her a chance.
We have had an influx of gorgeous new puppies and I would like to suggest that you visit them. Currently we have three who are about nine weeks old, have had their shots and are healthy and ready to go. Especially appealing is this little rascal, a black, brown and white curly haired pup, named Bernadette. This past week we received a large litter of five-week-old large puppies, a rainbow of puppies, all darling, healthy and growing. Grey, brown, black, white and buff colors, one or two of each! By the time this issue appears, they will be ready for adoption.
I send my thanks to Kathi Hamblet for writing last week’s article while I was away. Hope it helps make you want to work with us and our new program. So far, it seems quite successful, and dogs and volunteers are complying with our request for training. Call our office at 152-6124 to register for volunteer training, and to talk with Kathi. You are always welcome to visit the shelter at Los Pinos # 7, just off of Calzada de la Estacion, or to come see the animals we currently have for adoption. Our hours are Monday–Friday, 10am to 2pm.
