Give a gift, save an animal
Mauri Formigoni

Have you thought of a good holiday present for friends and loved ones? How about a donation to the local animal shelter in your friend’s name? You could keep a good cat or dog healthy and happy until they can be adopted and help us grow as an animal-rescue institution. We hope one day to have a permanent space with running room for more animals— clean, open and disease free. You, too, can be a part of this project!

Keep us in mind. You could also remember us in your will. It is not a difficult process and would be greatly appreciated! We have many good, strong, healthy pets waiting and we always need help from the community to secure their futures.

Feydeau, one of our best animals, is an elegant, brown Doberman mix about two years old, neutered, sweet and a bit shy. He first came to a Blitz of Amigos de Animales to be neutered, but he was suffering from malnutrition, had an open abcess on his neck and was far too ill to undergo the surgery his small, young owner hoped for.

So he was put immediately on an IV. For four long days he was cared for and it was not clear if he would survive. Only when given coffee enemas to jumpstart his digestive system did he respond. He was first fostered and then adopted by an old friend of the SPA, who kept him for almost two years until she suffered a back injury and was unable to contend with a young, strong dog. She sadly surrendered him to the shelter. He is sweet, sits on cue, possibly was house broken at one time, loves cats and other dogs, and seems a perfect gentleman. Feydeau will be in the Jardín this week to see if someone wants to adopt him. Feydeau is a good man and I would love to have him, but my stable is
full. Come visit him at the shelter and see if he is destined to become the “new man” in your life.

The cat I recommend this week is Frankie, a three-year-old male— sweet, mellow and, like me, an old tenant of the shelter. We do not know why he has not been noticed, but he has good looks, a sweet personality, is healthy and neutered and available. Won’t you consider him for your house? He has been waiting patiently for a long time and would like to be rescued and would be so grateful to his rescuer.

I was away from the shelter for a month and when I came back, I, an long-time volunteer, was amazed and pleased to see how good we look. Many others have commented on the changes that have occurred, the cleanliness of the space and how well behaved our animals are. Come see for yourself. We always need more volunteers to help care for the animals, raise funds and operate the shelter. We need you to become involved! The Sociedad Protectora de Animales welcomes all interested animal lovers.
