Christie’s Great Estates summit here
By Walter Trask

On August 13 and 14, representatives from seven Christie’s Great Estates affiliate companies convened in San Miguel de Allende for the third annual Latin American meeting. Hosted by Joanie Barcal of Allende Properties, the newest affiliate in Mexico, and Rick Moeser, Christie’s Vice President of the Southeast Region, Caribbean and Latin America, the two-day summit provided an opportunity for regional affiliates to discuss the state of the market, emerging trends and opportunities.

A grand cocktail reception at Allende Properties’ 350-year-old Spanish colonial office building launched the event on Thursday evening. A full day of networking and discussions at Casa de Sierra Nevada concluded the event on Friday, August 14.

“It was a great pleasure to host affiliates from Mexico, Uruguay and Argentina, as well as representatives from Texas and New York,” said Moeser. “The meeting was an opportunity to discuss marketing strategies to better serve our affiliates’ clients and promote their listings to the high-net-worth consumer throughout Latin America and the world.”

Attendees included Joanie Barcal, Laura Hernandez, Walter Trask, Sandra Young and Vanessa Garay, of Allende Properties; Carola Bianchi Carcano and Juan Irala y Hernández of Terramar (Punta del Este, Uruguay); Alexis Burwell, Katia Robles, Alfred Melchierre, Victor Lizorraga, Raul Alvarez Rojas and Betty Richter of La Punta Realty (Punta de Mita, Mexico); Rusty Ross and Charlotte Lipscomb of AvenueOne Properties (Austin, Texas); Erika Hernandez of Las Ventanas (Los Cabos, Mexico); Fernanda Canals of D&D (Buenos Aires, Argentina); Guida de Carvalhosa of Brown Harris Stevens Residential Sales New York); and Gabriela Lobo of Christie’s Mexico (DF).

About Christie’s Great Estates

Christie’s Great Estates is the largest international network of real estate companies dedicated to the sale and marketing of luxury homes and a subsidiary of Christie’s, the world’s leading art business. Christie’s clients who buy and sell works of art often request real estate services. In 1995, to satisfy this demand, Christie’s International acquired Great Estates, Inc., founded by Kay Coughlin in 1987. Today, the Christie’s Great Estates global network, with Coughlin as president and CEO, spans 40 countries with 900 offices and 36,000 brokers. Committed to the auction house’s two-century-old tradition of exceptional customer service and expertise in high-value marketing, the network achieved total combined sales of US$128 billion.

Admittance to the Christie’s Great Estates network is offered by invitation only to those real estate companies with proven records of success in high-value home sales and who exemplify Christie’s traditional value of service. Once awarded affiliate status, brokers may then display the coveted Christie’s brand and use the proprietary marketing services of Christie’s Great Estates, which have successfully marketed high-value real estate around the globe for 20 years. Exceptionally skilled local real estate specialists, a client-focused approach and strategic global marketing to a qualified audience of proven luxury consumers are the hallmarks of Christie’s Great Estates.
