“…that liquid which will be the cause of future wars.”

As human beings we have the moral obligation to preserve and protect what nature has provided, says a group of contemporary artists whose work will be exhibited beginning May 18.

Oscar Aguirre, curator of the project, believes contemporary art should take on the problems of daily living, a concept that can be risky. Rejection is always a possibility, but it is a risk worth taking, we cannot stay silent about that which concerns us all, he says.

So artists were invited to create a work with a specific location in mind, based on the current debate about the privatization of water in Mexico. The fourth World Forum on Water took place in Mexico City these past months, with no results. The opinions of the artists regarding this situation are expressed in their works.

The different techniques and mediums chosen demonstrate the diversity of their visions.

Each artist was offered space under the arches of the central patio in Bellas Artes.

Artists include Humberto Muro, Angelina Pérez, Masako Takahashi, Pakina Langenscheidt, Lothar Muller, Norma Suárez, Oscar Aguirre, Miguel Ángel Morales, Oscar de la Fuente, Rocío Ríos, Colectivo Filtro, Rodrigo Lara and Saúl Villa.
