At this week’s meeting, educator and therapist Den Nelson offers a five-step formula employing honesty, truth, respect, justice and love for staying on track to enrich your life.
A San Miguel resident for nearly a decade, Nelson began studying natural healing techniques in the early seventies, exploring the ways the mind and emotions affect health and healing. He trained at the American College of Natural Healing Sciences and the Alchemical Hypnotherapy Institute.

Instituto Allende Tours to Pozos
Instituto Allende hosts a field trip on Saturday, January 10, to what is often referred to as the ghost town of Pozos and the surrounding area. The trip embarks at 8am. Approximately 45 minutes from San Miguel are Pozos and Victoria. This adventure is a camera buff’s delight. The scenery is spectacular. Viewing the ancient petroglyphs requires some moderate hiking. Pozos was once a bustling silver-mining center. It has bottomless shafts and some of the ruins of the old mines will be explored. Pets and children are not permitted on this trip due to some dangerous areas. Sunscreen and wide-brimmed hats are suggested. Other highlights of the outing will be to tour the remains of giant hearths built by the Jesuits in 1597, plus being treated to a concert at the old musical instrument store.
Wednesday at 4pm, Instituto offers a free lecture previewing the upcoming weekend’s field trip.
Instituto Allende Tours are all-inclusive trips lead by bilingual guides. Cost for this trip (museum fees, transportation, meal, cocktails) is US$65. Reservations and prepayment are a must. For more information, visit or call 152-0226. Instituto Allende, Ancha de San Antonio 20.

Films & Videos
Meditation Center
On Thursday, January 8, at 5:30pm, the Meditation Center of San Miguel begins a six-week series of filmed teachings by Eckhart Tolle, The Art of Presence, with “Living by Grace.”
Is it possible that the simple act of being is not that simple? That to really be here now requires practice, like any other skill worth learning? The Art of Presence offers an opportunity to shift from the chaos and uncertainty of “the story of our life” to the fullness of the Now, to deepen moment-to-moment awareness and to know ourselves as the Consciousness that lives in and through all things.
The Meditation Center is Buddhist oriented and open to all forms of silent, still meditation. It is located at Callejón Blanco 4, near Quebrada, 152-2854. Most events are free, although donations are always welcome to maintain the center. Please try to arrive early for films as seating is limited, and late arrivals may disturb others.
