Fábrica La Aurora’s Gallery 303, in conjunction with Gallery Juarez 2525 of Torreón, Coahuila, presents the most recent work of accomplished Mexican artist Monica Fernández Berlanga.

The show, an invitation to find the mysterious subtlety within Fernández Berlaga’s paintings and to perceive what only the attentive viewer notices, is an endorsement of beauty and freedom, the celebration of her own creative process.

Fernández Berlanga is scheduled to participate in the International Contemporary Art Biennale in Florence in October 2019.

The exhibition at Gallery 303 explores the vulnerability of women as well as the inner world of their own sublimation, all by creating a world of fantasy, allegory, and surrealism. This world reflects not only beauty but also a universe of vulnerabilities, fears, and insecurities. Behind all that radiant beauty and the precious charm of its subjects lurks a dark side. It’s a refined, somber reminder that not everything is as beautiful as it seems. The subtlety within Berlanga’s works hides more complex emotions and mysteries than is at first perceived in her subjects’ gazes.

The collection includes a traveling oil-painted mural which the Cuatro Caminos Museum in México City recently exhibited as part of its celebration of the UN’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It will also be at the center of a special Gallery 303 event on September 27 at 7pm, where videomapping artist Jorge Rodas will perform visual effects on Fernández Berlanga’s mural with the intent of offering the viewer the opportunity to “dive into” her art.

Rodas, currently working for El Laberinto de las Ciencias y las Artes museum in San Luis Potosi, also does videomapping projected over the San Luis Potosi Cathedral.

The exhibition opens September 7, 2019, at 6pm. It will run throughout September from 11am–6pm.
