Fábrica la Aurora Summer Event

By Edward Swift

Every August, Fábrica La Aurora celebrates summer with an event that features new exhibits, new artists, music, and spontaneous dancing. This year the celebration will take place on August 3, from 5 to 8 pm. The public is cordially invited to attend.

As in other years, many attendees will be wearing something white, even if it is only a hat or scarf, in honor of the tradition of summer white.

Two galleries will celebrate their anniversaries on this date: Fernando M. Diaz will present a personal exhibit entitled X, representing his 10 years in La Aurora. This collection is representative of his work recently exhibited in the National Museum of Modern Art in Guatemala.

Galería Manuk celebrates its third anniversary with the exhibit Blanka. Participating artists include Ezshwan Winding, Lourdes Rivera, Kathleen Cammarata, and Cynthia Hamilton. The gallery attributes these three successful years in La Aurora to its artists and to the dedicated working team who have made it a truly artistic experience for its visitors.

Some of the other gallery highlights include a new exhibit at Galeria Espiral, featuring the art of Susan Dorf and Glen Rogers. Dorf’s paintings, mixed-media works, and hand-colored linoleum prints inspire a sense of magical realism. Rogers’s paintings and monotypes show the strength and vulnerability of women. Casa Coccoloba’s renovated showroom in front of Geek&Coffee cafe is presenting a variety of decorative objects and textiles made in México.

San Miguel Patio Decor is showcasing a new collection, Le Jardines, outdoor furniture of the highest quality and contemporary design. Entering the Calderoni Gallery, you will be greeted by gypsy music and Merry Calderoni`s new paintings, along with outstanding modern pieces from Deborah White and Raul Campos, a young master who paints in the style of the old masters.

Joaquín Piñeiro and the artists of E-1 will exhibit new work and offer discounts up to 30 percent on some items. Edina Sagert Gallery 8-A welcomes Dana Ball, a new abstract painter. Galería San Francisco will present new work by the gallery artists, and Estudio Mario Oliva has invited Juan Pablo Zamora from Guadalajara City to exhibit for the occasion. James Harvey will unveil two large paintings on layered organdy, Mariachi Loco, and what is to be an edition of one in color of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Estudio Edgardo Kerlegand introduces two exhibits—Sinonimos, a group show of six artists, all his former students, with the underlying theme of inclusion. and Ram Chanty`s collection, Micro-Macro, work created for his thesis.

Intersección Gallery will present four new exhibits: Ri Anderson’s Betwixt, Ángel Ricardo Rios’s, No son flores, si tu quieres, Alejandra Mendoza’s Consumo, and a group show of nudes by nine artists, The Sensual Art. Walking toward the music, you will experience Juan Ezcurdia`s airplane mobiles celebrating women pilots.

Please join us for our eleventh annual summer event at the Fábrica.
