New Work Reception at Magenta Gallery

By Patricia Miller

Join us tomorrow, July 27, for new summer artwork by all Magenta Gallery’s artists, who have designed new work for display downstairs along with their older work. They have refined their colors and designs with their high artistic ability.

Magenta Gallery is a co-operative with seven talented, professional, and successful artists. They will all be there to show their new work and discuss any questions you may have. Also, enjoy the mojito margaritas made by artist Chip DuPont or our red and white wines.

Magenta Gallery has been open in San Miguel de Allende for 14 years and is one of the most successful galleries in town. We are open seven days a week, 11am–5pm. Each artist works one day a week at Magenta, so if you want to meet a specific artist whose work you love, find out what day he/she works and come visit.

Magenta Gallery artists are: Annie Evans, Steve Ellis, Fran Schiavo, Lola Pico, Cathy Taylor, Chip DuPont, and Patricia Miller. Fran also designs wearable art—beautiful silk scarves and shawls.

Patricia made jewelry for over 15 years in the US and continues to do so since moving full-time to San Miguel. A professional artist for over 25 years, Chip has participated in over 100 juried expositions and art shows in the US and has collectors in all 50 states as well as Europe, Asia, and México. Lola, a Barcelona native, came to México in 1992 after working for 15 years in the world of artistic makeup for fashion, TV, and film.

Annie Evans is an amazing sculptor, organizing human-animal hybrids that show we are but one of many animal species, all interrelated both physically and emotionally. Cathy is an award-winning mixed-media artist and popular workshop instructor. Steve draws his inspiration for sculpture from nature, applying his own unique style of illustration and allowing his imagination to wander. Fran’s encaustic paintings are created using beeswax, tree resin, and pigment applied in layers and burned in with a torch in much the same manner as perfected by the Greeks over 2,000 years ago.
