San Miguel Wordsmiths a Supportive Group for Pro and Amateur Writers Alike

By Julie Catton Amezcua

Do you need help with a blog, book, or other writing project?

Do you enjoy connecting with other creative types?

Would you like fresh new ideas to spice up your writing—or some tried-and-true methods to spruce up your technique?

San Miguel Wordsmiths offers aspiring and professional writers a weekly opportunity to explore their creativity; master the fine points of technique, learn about contests, publishing, and marketing; and connect with other aspiring and practicing wordsmiths.

Held every Saturday, 11:30am–1:45pm in the quaint Hotel Quinta Loreto’s TV Room, this workshop will give locals a complementary admission in order to check out the group. The regular fee is 250 pesos per session.

The meetings provide time to write, share something you’ve written, solicit feedback, receive help with a writing-related issue, peruse the table of participants’ books and services, and enjoy informative, inspirational presentations by local and visiting professionals.

San Miguel Wordsmiths is hosted by psychologist Dr Linda Sonna. Her self-published Amazon Top-10 Bestselling memoir, Tortillas & Peanut Butter: True Confessions of an American Mom Turned Mexican Smuggler, was the multicultural nonfiction finalist for the National Indie Excellence Award. Sonna’s poems, essays, and short stories have appeared in English and Spanish journals and anthologies.

Sonna has published 10 psychology self-help books with mainstream presses in addition to hundreds of freelance articles and a nationally self-syndicated column. She has taught writing workshops and led writers’ groups across the US and México.
