Healthy market in the public library

By Breyton Méndez

On Saturday, June 29, Bio Organic and the Biblioteca put on the first-ever educational market in the Biblioteca’s courtyard.

At around 12:30pm, the event formally opened with some library members saying some opening words. During the event, participants sold natural items like pulque, honey water, organic fruits and vegetables, food, and cocoa.

Organizers also hosted a workshop on creating and maintaining your own garden on solar mats kept at very high temperatures.

This event was intended to encourage people to do their own cultivation, and care for the planet. Organizers want to help people learn how to kick the consumption habit, since our cupboards are regularly full of processed products.

It was a free and completely family-friendly event. The people who attended were very happy to learn new farming methods.

Bio Organic expects to continue putting on this educational market repeatedly in the near future.
