Surrealist Artist Inspires Clothing Designs at Galeria Casa Diana Fashion Show

CASA DIANA

By Alexandra Long

A fashion show on Saturday, June 22, at Galeria Casa Diana, will present a collection inspired by renowned surrealist artist Pedro Frideberg.

The strong architectural quality and surreal compositions that characterize Friedeberg’s works served as a template for the Tiajuana fashion designer Daniela Villa’s spring/summer collection. Every item of clothing in this collection features one or several elements inspired by Friedeberg’s artworks.

Villa has been a finalist in the Elle México Diseña contest. Her collections have been featured at the WinterBeach music and fashion festival and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and have caught the attention of magazines like Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Grazia, and Glamour, among others.

Complementing Villa’s pieces will be designs by Armour Jewellery and handbags by Laddu. Each of the designers involved in this show has gained impressive recognition around the globe.

Brianna Armour creates striking collections of both delicate and bold statement-making jewelry pieces, handmade in México in small batches, using semiprecious stones and sterling silver. Armour Jewelry, founded in San Miguel de Allende in 2016, draws its inspiration from the experience of light and shadowplay in modern architecture and from sculptural vintage pieces from the historic Mexican town of Taxco.

Laddu is a Mexican design house that specializes in handcrafted purses, handbags, and accessories. Sisters Sofía and Monica Zepeda-Carranza, along with their mother, Monica Palazuelos, are the founding creative talents behind the family business. They recently celebrated their collections in the Paris design show Maison & Objet. They have also collaborated with Pedro Friedeberg, Pixar, Jocelyn Arellano and Fernando Marroquín, Caralarga, and Stacey Rozich.

The runway event will be followed by complimentary cocktails and canapés offered by Naa-na and Euro Te.

All clothing, jewelry, and accessories will be available for purchase after the show and the following day, Sunday, 11am–4pm.

This event is free. Please confirm your attendance by emailing galeriacasadiana@gmail.com, calling 415 152 0885, or 415 126 0984 (What’sApp).

Galeria Casa Diana is located at Recreo 48.
