Next Rotary Presentation Speaker Is Businessman and VIP-Card Creator Lou Christine

By Skip Essick

If you like to live it up in San Miguel de Allende, and most of us do, chances are pretty good that you have that black-and-white VIP card tucked away in your wallet or purse that entitles you to discounts at area restaurants and other businesses.

These discounts are a great reward for area expats always looking for a deal. But do you the person behind this special card?

Lou Christine arrived in San Miguel in 1995 when, as he describes it, “at a lifetime crossroads, I permitted the universe to take me and finally deliver me here.”

Christine took a major leap of faith in 1987 when he left the business world to pursue a career in writing. Over the years, this Renaissance man has written novels, film scripts, and stage plays. And in between, he dusted off his shrewd business skills and marketing expertise to create the VIP Card, which is now in its nineteenth year.

Come hear Christine tell stories about his journey on Tuesday, May 7, at the Rotary Midday Club’s weekly meeting. Join us for what promises to be an entertaining presentation.

We’re located at Cafeteria Sanmiguelessen, next to the yellow caboose on calle Sterling Dickinson. Doors open at 9am with an optional breakfast for 100 pesos per person. The presentation will begin at 9:30am and is free.

Rotary is where neighbors, friends, and problem-solvers share ideas, join leaders, and take action to create lasting change. For more information, contact President Ivar Schacke at
