Photography students from the local Victoria Robbins School recently visited the Sociedad Protectora de Animales (SPA) to photograph newly-welcomed puppies and contribute their photography to a good cause—publicizing adoptable puppies for the SPA.

The visit was a field trip for the students and served to fulfill their photography assignment—“take pictures of moving objects in low light and in bad light.”

The students chose the SPA as the location for their field assignment because they wanted to do something that could have a positive impact. Sharing their experience and their photos is part of how the students want their class assignment to have more meaning.

“I am very grateful for this experience. I hope all of the puppies will find a home,” said student Francesca Trischitta of her time spent taking pictures of the puppies.

“If you’re trying to take a picture of a puppy, it’s hard because they won’t stop moving,” said student Alayna Awad about her class assignment.

“Despite the puppies being so energetic and playful, I managed to get a few good shots,” explained student Alya MacDonald.

“My experience at the SPA was amazing,” said student Owen Holland. “They have a well-run organization with lots of very cute dogs, big and small. I would definitely suggest going to visit.”

“At first, it was a bit of a challenge to photograph the puppies because they were constantly moving, but I eventually adapted,” said student Piper Davidson.

“I’m sure the puppies didn’t really mind a bunch of humans invading their privacy and taking pictures with them,” student Patricio Tassinari noted with a smile.

“They spent most of their time chewing on my shoelaces,” student Vianna Rodgers said with a laugh. “I wish I could keep them all, but as I can’t, I really hope they find a home.”

All the student photographers encourage you to visit the SPA any day, Monday–Saturday, at Los Pinos 7, from 11am to 2pm, and meet the puppies and all the cats and dogs available for adoption.
