A professional artist for more than 25 years, DuPont has participated in over 100 juried expositions and art shows in the US and has collectors in all 50 states as well as Europe, Asia, and México. He credits his teenage travels to México with influencing the color palette, the sense of structure, and the textural context of his completed works.

With a combination of acrylic and pasted mediums, DuPont builds color and texture in layers to create his unique drawings. His landscapes may be a combination of two or three different locales, brought together first in his mind and then on the canvas.

A unique characteristic admired by collectors of his work is that each one is complete with a frame that DuPont designs and custom-makes.

“My vision is not complete until the work is ready to be displayed,” DuPont says.

His work captures the beauty of the Mexican landscape, the charm of colonial San Miguel de Allende street scenes, and beautiful florals, each piece complete with the hand-made frame.

A native of Texas, DuPont and his artist wife, Deborah, have been traveling to San Miguel since 1985. They owned the DuPont Gallery in Austin, Texas, before moving to San Miguel.

This exhibit opens Thursday April 18, 5-7pm, at Zacateros 29. Magenta Gallery is home to six other artists who will be at the April 18 event: Steve Ellis, Fran Schiavo, Annie Evans, Patricia Miller, Cathy Taylor, and Lola Pico.
