Dear Editor:

The Playreaders Group is a valuable asset to the San Miguel de Allende community. I am a Canadian who began coming to San Miguel in 2003, at which time we happened upon Playreaders and have been “religious” attendees since. Combined with Pro Musica performances, St Paul’s has been a hub of the San Miguel environment. The activities held there attracted expatriates on a regular basis. One would think that is consistent with the aims of the church, regardless of denomination. No doubt the authorities have made the decision to exclude Playreaders for what they believe to be legitimate reasons. Because of the importance of Playreaders to the community they, and we, request of the church that it reconsider its decision in the context of inclusion.

Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.”

—Romans 12:15–18

Respectfully,

Derek Hall
