An Unsolved Mystery

SPA Suerte

SPA Trinidad

SPA Vanderbilt

By Jayn Corral

Had they known about this case, I am sure the sleuths of Dateline, 20/20, and 48 Hours would be investigating.

Everyone at the SPA wants to know why this case hasn’t been solved. Why hasn’t Trinidad been adopted?

This silky, all-black gentle giant arrived at the SPA in January 2016 at the age of two months. The scene back then was disturbing—six young kittens stuffed into a rusty old birdcage with no food, water, or shade, along the side of a busy, dusty road. Upon seeing them, a good Samaritan stopped and gave the old man a few pesos in exchange for the kittens. He agreed, but only if she promised to return the birdcage.

She immediately took them to the SPA to have them checked by the veterinarian. They were hungry, dehydrated, hot, and scared, but overall in good health.

In time, they all acclimated to their new environment, and four of the siblings were adopted. Trinidad’s sister, Taiwan, found Martin, the love of her life, at the SPA, and will keep him company for as long as she can. That’s another story.

Trinidad, the biggest and shyest of the litter, was reticent to meet volunteers and hid from potential adopters. Gradually he learned to trust and make friends with the regular volunteers and his roommates. His favorite sport is playing with wand toys.

Trinidad, now a very happy, social, and big, gorgeous cat, is a volunteer favorite. He welcomes volunteers at the door by brushing up close for a proper greeting. He then rolls over to solicit a few minutes of personal attention. He and his closest friends, like Vanderbilt and Suerte, corral the volunteers when they think it is treat time. After lunch and playtime, Trinidad loves to camp out near volunteers and get a few extra pets as he falls off to sleep.

Please help spread the news about Trinidad so this mystery can be solved. We need to help Trinidad find his elusive special family and home. He’d be happy to welcome visitors to meet him and his friends at the SPA, Los Pinos 7, 152 6124. Come any day, Monday–Saturday, 11am–2pm.
