Design Studio Evolves to Increase Connection with Larger Expat Community

With an eye for global style and a love for bringing eclectic designs to life, business partners Christine Martin and Fernanda Bravo launched an interior design studio, The Good Abode in 2017.

This month, fans of the brand were delighted to participate in a new project, The Good Space.

Formerly a showroom for The Good Abode, Christine decided to extend the spirit and integrity of their design firm to a wider audience in the form of a stylish event space for art exhibits, workshops, coworking hours, and yoga classes.

First to launch at the new space is local artist and Los Angeles native Philip Sumner. San Miguel’s young, hip crowd turned out for an evening of art, music, and mingling to celebrate Sumner’s work. The exhibit featured several paintings from his Forever series, abstract works of mixed media on metal.

Said Sumner of his series, “The use of metal was inspired due its longevity and ever-evolving nature. I equate ‘forever’ with love, or the desire for that which you love, to exist in its state eternally… But the metal humbly suggests change is inevitable.”

“Philip’s exhibit at The Good Space was a success and met with much admiration. His work is a beautiful representation of organic transformation that happens with elements and time. The earthy tones, along with touches of color and gold leaf, offer timeless and natural pieces of art,” said founder and lead designer, Christine Martin.

Sumner’s work is currently for sale at The Good Space. Contact christine@thegoodabode.com for hours and availability.
